On Saturday we hosted a 2nd Breakfast for friends of Legacy and for people who wanted to learn more about what Legacy is all about. This event is the brainchild of our whole PotteryWorks team; in a meeting one day we just kept throwing around ideas until the 2nd Breakfast came into being. This event includes painting pottery, eating scones, and drinking tea!
Eight guests gathered in our basement studio Saturday morning and picked out a piece of our pottery, cast by our former youth workers. After a few instructions everyone got to work. We had several glaze styles that people could pick from and instruction sheets that went with each style. Our studio felt very full in a good way- full of conversation, laughter and excited energy.
After the painting came the breakfast. Amanda made delicious scones to pair with fresh, juicy peaches. We were 12 people total and fit just perfectly around the large table in the dining room of the Legacy House. I shared a bit about Legacy Ministries and, specifically, PotteryWorks. People asked questions and we had a really good conversation about Legacy and transformational work. The PotteryWorks team was really encouraged by the interest our guests had in our ministry. Some people even volunteered to help at future events!
In the entry way of the Legacy House we had a small display of pottery for guest to peruse as they came and went. We showed off some of our dinnerware sets, as well as our Coffee and Tea Lover’s Mugs. (I love setting up pretty displays like this!)
The event was a great opportunity to meet new friends and share a piece of Legacy PotteryWorks with each person who came. If you’re interested in attending this sort of event, let us know in the comments! We’ll consider hosting it again sometime in the future.
